Hi Jason,

I can't say what the problem is with disappearing text, it could well
be simply that near or far plane is clipping it out, or that the
internally cached coords in osgText are being put of sync because of
the changes in projection. With debugging the code with your app I
can't say.

One thing I can say is that I *strongly* recommend against ever
switching between perspective and orthographic views. Lots of
problems occur when you try to make an orthographic view "behave" like
an perspective view, basically the two are incompatible ways of work
that shouldn't be mixed.

You should just use orthographic views for what they are good for -
elevation, plan and oblique external views of your scenes - you
shouldn't ever try to have a 3D view that can be controlled in a free
form way (i.e. via trackball etc) that is in orthographic. If you
try it will just cause lots and lots of pain trying to make it behave
"correctly", the fact is you can't so don't try it.

Robert.

Hi,

I seem to be having a problem with disappearing text when using
osgText::Text::SCREEN_COORDS when I switch from a perspective view to an
orthographic projection.

When I switch to orthographic projection I use cam->setLensOrtho(). Does the
disappearing of my text have anything to do with near and far clipping? I
should also note that when I switch back to my perspective mode the text
gone at that point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
