Rather than redo what has already been done and the quantity of files in BMNG, does anyone have world files for Blue Marble Next Generation that they are willing to share?

Note: Using Linux RedHat 4 Operating System. Here goes: Step 1) Download the Blue marble December 2004 500 m/pixel png files containing 8 separate files (world.200412.3x21600x21600.A1.png - D2.png) Q1_1) Do I need to use a grapphics software tool (e.g Photoshop) to create one mosiac image ? Q1_2) Need to resize the images to a lower resolution (e.g 2048x2048)? Q1_3) Should the new mosiac image be split into 2, east and west? Step 2) Download the Blue marble topography png file 2km/pixel (srtm_ramp2.world.21600x10800.jpg) in order to create elevation using osgdem Q2_1) Need to resize the images to a lower resolutin to match Q1_2? Step 3) Creating tif files using GDAL gdal_translate west.png west.tif gdaladdo -r average west.tif 2 4 8 16 32 gdal_translate east.png east.tif gdaladdo -r average east.tif 2 4 8 16 32 gdal_translate srtm_ramp2.world.21600x10800.png topo.tif gdaladdo -r average topo.tif 2 4 8 16 32 Q3_1) Is this right? Step 4) Generate a texture earth model with elevation osgdem --PagedLOD --bluemarble-west -t west.tif --bluemarble-east -t east.tif --whole-globe -d topo.tif --geocentric -v 1.0 -l 12 -o earth.ive Q4_1) Does the following option need to be added --cs "+proj=latlong +datum=WGS84" ? Q4_2) Did I miss any options? Hope there aren't too many questions. Thanks in advance, much appreciated.
