Our plan is to release everything as Open Source, either GPL or LGPL as

May I break a plea for the code being released under the LGPL or OSGPL
(its the WxWindows relaxation of the LGPL). This way a wider group of
developers will be able to use and crucially contribute to its
development.
I' ll have to discuss with Carlo, but it seems reasonable
We are also thinking how to add flexibility to this code by decoupling
the OSG related application to the Mozilla or IE coupled code.
My hope for the new osgViewer library is that we'll be able to provide
a plugin for IE and Firefox. I don't have the expertise in these apps
to know how to go about it so it be great to see other work in
integrating the OSG with these apps. My thought is that
osgViewer::SimpleViewer would probably the easiest way to integrate.
Our current implementation is based on osgPerformer, the code
implementing osg functionalities is quite separate from the part that
deals with Firefox and IE
but we do not have implemented dynamic loading yet.
We would like to allow dynamic loading of osg components, in order to
being able to load different osg app components without reinstalling the
plugin.
I think we could use the new osgViewer::SimpleViewer.
Hopefully it 'll resolve problems of opening multiple windows without
disrupting paging.
regarding the viewer:
our app use currently timer events from Firefox and IE to issue the
update, draw cycle, so consuming quite a lot of cpu resources
and so being "invasive", we could benefit from allowing to select
event driven mode , but we probably require to catch the page-in events
from the dbpager.
We would like to have multiple scene graphs and multiples windows that
are to be open and close regularly in the life of our plugin
(the plugin starts at the first time the user open one enabled page and
open new windows each time a new osg enabled page is opened)
We need to integrate the OSG viewer functionality into windows that are
opened by IE/Firefox and, (unfortunately) our main platform is Windows.
Alternatively one could implement a osgViewer::GraphicsWindowActiveX
and GraphicsWindowFirefox and then integrate with any of the osgViewer
viewer classes.
I can not comment on this, me and Carlo have to look to the new
examples, unfortunately we do not have much time now, we probably wait
new simpleviewers examples to be working under windows.
Thanks again for the great work
