Yep, I memember, I was willing to post that here but forgot ...
The problem was/is that I have a top level camera that only clears the color
buffer. Then the sky (I call that the 'background scene') is rendered without
depth test. The ordering is guaranteed using render bin numbers.
The 'real scene' is placed below a seperate Camera that then clears the depth
buffer. This depth buffer clear is not honoured and thus the z buffer was
never cleared. Resulting in such nice patterns ...
The fix is to place a ClearNode with the z-buffer clear above that Camera in
question.
BTW: I am not sure about how the Camera's clear mask is meant, but currently
we have cases where this is ignored.
