Oh man, Yet Another Build System ....

Are we going to have the choice or will we be forced to switch over to
using CMake ? I have to admit that I'm not very much inclined to
participate in making this happen. Personally I really wonder why yet
another obstacle is put in the way of making a release whereas the
latter had been planned to happen several months ago.

If CMake works out it would replaced the current unix Makefile, XCode
and VS support. Maintaining the XCode and VS support is the most
problematic things for all our recent releases as its just so hard to
keep all platforms compiling at one time.

As for it being another obstacle in the way of making a release, yep
the release is later, unfortunately things have happened in the last
few months that I didn't wish for but happened and there has been
various knock on affects to get the OSG back on stable footing, part
of this has been loosing the window of opportunity for making a
release. This is frustrating alround, but alas not something I can
wave a magic wand. I have worked my guts out of the last few months,
and ironically rather than bringing the release in sooner may have
prolonged due to the onset of RSI.

My hope is that CMake will make things easier for us all in the end,
but like many things in software engineering if you want ot get where
you are going then you have to do some serious hard graft to get
there. Once we are there the benefits should be obvious.

Robert.
