… and the answer to all opensource project related features queries is: just
write it on your own.

Best regards,

Richard

Every scene graph I have worked with over the years provides one or more
motion/manipulator models to allow users to have the ability to move around out
the box

BUT most of these are fairly basic and generic.

In over 20 years I have never used one of the provided motion
motions/manipulators in an end application I have always written models
specific to the needs of the application and in my experience this is true for
most others. As every application has it own needs and requirements of a motion
model, take a flight simulator or driving simulator there are no mouse's in
them so the models as in OSG would not really do me no good. I have a great
model for flying a Euro fighter but its not going to do you any good walking
around an Urban simulation...

When I'm teaching folks about scene graphs and particular API ( OSG, Vega,
Vega Prime , Performer, etc ) one of the first things I do is shown them how to
go about writing their own motion model

After all OSG is a frame work,(a sophisticated frame work) to allow you to
build a complex interactive synthetic worlds and only know how you need to move
around your synthetic world and thus OSG provides some basic but usable models
to get you moving.

But this boils down to this , if the motion models in OSG are not suitable for
you then simply write your own, and may be consider contributing the model to
OSG.. You have the source so you can see exactly how to create your own..

Best Regards

Gordon

        Subject: [osg-users] A better Manipulator!

There are several Manipulators in osgProduce::Viewer, but frankly
speaking they are not very well. A good Manipulator is a base function in 3d
application, but the osg beginners can not write a good Manipulator. Can osg
provide a better manipulator like google earth's manipulator in the future.
