All these changes rather dewarf the changes between 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2,
so a minor version bump to 1.3 doesn't really capture the breadth of
changes. These leads me to wonder if we shouldn't bump up a major
version number, i..e go for 2.0.

I would understand bumping to 2.0 as the drop of Producer/osgProducer
by itself is a major API change.
