Hi,
If I may add my humble comment on this discussion, I'd say that I totally agree with E. Wing and Eric Sokolowsky.
The OSG audience is indeed 98% developers, but these developers are asked to code/package/distribute applications running on OSX, not Darwin. OSX is more than Darwin, and I expect OSG to run out of the box on OSX using bundles.
Besides, as E. Wing already pointed out, all bundles can be run from a command line by specifying their executable file, so supporting OSX means supporting Darwin de facto, but not the other way around.
On a side note, I must say that I am concerned by the tone this discussion is taking. I was used to more collaborative & polite discussions, with a strong will to satisfy the needs of a majority before making decisions breaking platform standards overnight.
I propose to set that new OSG_BUILD_APPLICATION_BUNDLES option to ON by default. This will comply with the OSX standards as expected, and offer a simple way to answer specific needs (like relying solely on Darwin/bash to launch an example) when needed.
