#292: GDAL driver PDF

It seems like by installing the latest GDAL release the pdflib is also
selected but the driver is not available at command line (gdalinfo
--format PDF). Does the driver depend on some other third party library?
Could we have the driver built by default on GDAL distribution or as an
optional plugin?
