Hi all,
I remember in the past there was several GDAL packages, with all the
dlls versioned and present in the bin folder.
Though I understand it represents more work, it will be nice to smooth
the transition to 2.0 by keeping around a package for 1.11, to give time
for everyone to catch up with the latest release.

You're right, there is no need to update GDAL now. But the version 2.0
is not compatible with OTB (not yet ...).

has an impact on GDAL.
GDAL 2.0 was just released. But QGIS release is next week, so I'm
not sure if I should upgrade GDAL 2.0 just now. But that could
probably make use of both libkml and the new OpenJPEG.
