Of course it does...Iran's had it's bloody hands involved with terrorism
since the chief shiite terrorist, Ayatollah Khomeini, attacked the US
Embassy in Tehran in 1979. CIA Station Chief William F. Buckley was
tortured to death in Iran (in the best Islamic tradition) after being
kidnapped from Beirut. He had a catheter and a balloon forced down his
throat and inflated, crushing his internal organs...when his body was
finally recovered, the catheter and balloon were still in place. Animals.

Lost Israel pilot's trail led to Iran - spy papers

BERLIN, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Missing airman Ron Arad, a national icon in
Israel, was smuggled to Iran in 1996 a full decade after being shot down
over Lebanon, according to a German television documentary which concluded
the pilot is now dead.

WDR television quoted papers of Germany's BND intelligence service saying
Arad was held for years in a cave in Lebanon before being handed over in
Beirut in Oct. 1996 to an Iranian working for the diplomatic and secret
services. From there, it said he was taken days later via Syria to Iran.

A BND spokeswoman on Tuesday confirmed the papers were genuine but refused
to comment on remarks by a former intelligence chief who told WDR he was
sure Arad was dead. An Israeli defence official said the airman was presumed
alive.

The BND has been mediating between Lebanon, Iran and Israel for the past
decade to try to broker a solution to the Arad mystery.

The spokeswoman said the agency was still pursuing contacts with both
Lebanon's militant Hizbollah group and Tehran, which denies knowledge of the
airman's fate.

The 18-year quest to find Arad is a hugely emotive public issue in Israel,
where successive governments have followed the ethos that captives can never
be abandoned in enemy hands.

Doubts over whether Arad could have survived have grown in recent years as
the trail of evidence has gone cold.

"He is dead. The question is whether he died of an illness, from wounds or
whether he was killed. That, for me, is not clear," former German
intelligence chief Bernd Schmidbauer told the documentary makers.

"SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED"

Beirut-based sources told Reuters in May that Arad was dead and Hizbollah
had his remains. But Hizbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said in the
WRD film that Arad had "suddenly disappeared" after initially being held by
Lebanese Shi'ite Amal militiamen, and "that is all we know".

"He was never in our hands. We didn't take him prisoner," Nasrallah said.

Israel says it still has no proof of what happened to Arad and will continue
its efforts to find him.

"The working assumption in the Israeli establishment is that Ron Arad is
alive," Major-General Amos Gilad, head of strategic and diplomatic planning
in Israel's Defence Ministry, told Army Radio on Tuesday.

"The security apparatus is constantly making efforts to find out what befell
him, with Iran having been identified as the responsible party."

In a German-mediated swap in January, Israel freed hundreds of Arab
prisoners while Hizbollah handed over a kidnapped Israeli businessman and
the bodies of three dead soldiers.

The exchange was billed as the first phase of an eventual deal that would
finally clarify what happened to Arad.

German intelligence coordinator Ernst Uhrlau said at the time he hoped to
establish the airman's fate within three months, but officials have not
reported any further progress.

Asked to comment on the status of talks, the BND spokeswoman said: "It's a
very difficult negotiation between the partners."
