(AP) Spanish authorities arrest 13 new terror suspects in National court plot MADRID, Spain Police on Thursday charged 13 more people in connection with an Islamic terrorist group suspected of plotting to bomb a Spanish court, authorities said.
Eight arrests were made in three different Spanish cities, and the other five were already inmates held in Spanish prisons, a police spokesman said on customary condition of anonymity. He did not give details of the charges. Police also seized a large amount of documentation, videos and Arabic-language cassettes in the raids on homes in Madrid, Cadiz and Valencia. The arrested are Moroccans and Algerians, the police spokesman added. Last week, National Court Judge Baltasar Garzon jailed 18 suspects over the alleged plot to blow up the National Court on terrorism-related charges. The alleged ringleader of the court plot, Mohamed Achraf, is under arrest in Switzerland, and Spain last week requested his extradition. Spanish authorities say he had been plotting to ram a truck loaded with 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of explosives into the National Court to kill judges such as Garzon who probing Islamic terror cases, including the Madrid train bombings, and destroy their case files. ------------------------ Yahoo!
