27/01/2005 01. Bomb kills two, hurts 30 in Bangladesh Reuters
DHAKA, Jan 27 (Reuters) - A bomb exploded at an opposition rally in northeastern Bangladesh on Thursday, killing two people and wounding at least 30, police and witnesses said. The blast rocked the Awami League rally at Laskarpur, about 250 km (150 miles) from the capital, Dhaka. A spokesman for the main opposition party said former finance minister Shah Kibria who was sitting on the dais at the rally was seriously wounded and being transported to Dhaka for treatment. Awami chief Sheikh Hasina, a former prime minister, narrowly escaped injury when at least three grenades exploded at a rally she was addressing in Dhaka last Aug. 21. Twenty-three people were killed in that attack, and hundreds were wounded. Urgent: Grenade explosion kills 3 at Bangladesh opposition rally DHAKA, Jan. 27 (Xinhuanet)-- At least three were killed by grenade explosion at an opposition rally in northeastern Bangladesh on Thursday, according to local media reports. Some 50 others were wounded, the reports added. The grenade explosion happened at the opposition Awami League rally in Habiganj district, 120 kilometers northeast of here. Among the injured were former Finance Minister Shah Mohammad Kibria who had just finished speaking at the rally, the reports said.
