More than 70% of Iran's workforce unskilled

LONDON, Feb 28 (IranMania) - More than 70% of the country’s job-seeking
population lack professional skills, said the acting head of the State
Technical and Vocational Organization on Sunday.

Mohammad Ali Rahmati told ISNA that the organization trains more than 2
mln youngsters per annum, stressing that the organization works on more
than 2,000 educational and vocational fields.

The official further noted that more money has to be injected into
vocational training schemes, stressing that the unemployment rate could
come down from 12 to 5% during the fourth plan (2005-2010) if the
government provides more funds to the purpose.

He expressed deep concern over the prospect of the job market facing a
serious shortage of skillful workers in the future.

The official further noted that training every workforce would cost the
organization some rls 3 mln per annum.
