 Arab Parliamentarians Oppose Interference in Internal Affairs of Arab
Countries

Cairo, March 12(Petra-Jordan News Agency)-- The Arab delegations 
participating the Euro-Med Parliamentary Assembly's session, currently 
being held in Cairo, opposed the European Parliament's call to send 
delegates to observer the Lebanese elections, scheduled to be held next 
May.
In their press statement on Saturday, the delegations refused, in 
principle, the idea of sending observers to any country without its
request 
and acceptance.
'' The supposed Israeli amendments are not in line with objectives of 
Barcelona Process in achieving a comprehensive and just peace in the
Middle 
East, added the statement, which also refused any interference in the 
internal affairs of any member- country.
On the Lebanese Affair, the Arab delegates adopted Taef Agreement as a
base 
for supposed solutions. Any other decision is deemed a flagrant 
interference in the Lebanese local affair, the delegates added.
The statement noted to the importance of working jointly to achieve 
objectives of Barcelona Process, establish peace and stability and
promote 
partnership between the two sides. For his part, Head of the Parliament 
Economic Committee Hashem Dabbas expressed Jordan's support to the Arab 
statement, noting to objectives of Barcelona Process.
Dabbas also called on the European Union to contribute effectively to 
activating the peace process to achieve a just, permanent, and 
comprehensive peace in the region.
