Armenia to Sell Missiles to Al-Qaeda S. Rob Sobhani from Washington Times claimed that, Armenians try to sell grenade launchers, shoulder-fired missiles and other former USSR military weapons to Al Qaeda in order to use them against the US. Recently, 18 Armenians and Georgians have been arrested for entering some kinds of weapons illegally. Although the US struggle with terrorist organizations in many parts of the world, on their own land they have come across threats of national security. The most striking point is that perilous threats are caused by Armenia, who has taken lots of help from US. It is known that the Armenians get much more help than Azerbaijan who is an important ally for US in terms of her energy resources and security co-operation. Thereby, Armenians attitude towards Azerbaijanis have great impacts on US’ national interests. Between 1992 and 2003, Armenia received $ 1.336 billion in assistance from the US government. Azerbaijan, however, received only $ 335 million during this same period. When tragedy struck America on 9/11, Azerbaijan offered immediate and unconditional support. Today, Azerbaijani troops are working side-by-side with the US forces in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. Armenia helped to Iranian security system in the past. Some Armenian firms were accused of selling long-range missiles to Iran. Due to the recent incidents nowadays a new argument is on the agenda in US, Therefore Sobhani suggested “Bush administration have to end the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, especially the problem of Karabagh is important.” With keeping this subject in mind, Armenians must withdraw from Azerbaijan territory; therefore Azerbaijan should be an independent country. The introduction of NATO peacekeepers into the conflict zone would be a first step towards permanent solution, thus keeping the region from manipulation by criminal elements whose goal is to harm US. -- To alcohol!
