Palestinian with alleged terror links arrested in Zamboanga City A Palestinian who allegedly trained Abu Sayyaf bandits in the past was arrested in Zamboanga City over the weekend, ANC reported Thursday. Joint operatives of the military and police arrested on Saturday suspect Fawaz Zi Ajjur who is an alleged al-Qaeda member. Authorities said it was possible that the suspect returned to the country to sow terror. Ajjur reportedly did not have a visa and was stopped by immigration agents at the Zamboanga airport, Bureau of Immigration and Deportation Commissioner Alipio Fernandez said. He came from Sandakan, Malaysia on a South-Pacific Airways flight. Ajjur had gone to Russia, Thailand, Malaysia before returning to the Philippines, the bureau said. Captured Abu Sayyaf bandits reportedly identified the man as one of the militants who trained them in bomb-making in Patikul, Jolo. Ajjur reportedly denied the allegation and his alleged links to the terror group. Reports reaching ABS-CBN News said Ajjur was turned over to the custody of Western Mindanao police Director Vidal Querol. Querol reportedly said the suspect has links with the Abu Sayyaf militants and is possibly involved in plotting terror attacks in the Philippines. The Abu Sayyaf has been blamed for deadly attacks, including the bombing of a Super Ferry ship that killed 118 people in 2004.
