Seems like an excellent and appropriate idea to me, but it is not something that Cofer Black would ever seriously say. Bruce ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The invaluable Mr. Tefft has apparently not read the authorized Bush administration account of the response to Sept. 11, "Bush at War" by Bob Woodward. On P 52 he describes a top secret (not any more!) meeting in the White House Situation Room, where Black is said to have told Bush that "When we're through with (al-Qaida) they'll have flies walking across their eyeballs." "It was an image of death ," writes Woodward, "that left a lasting impression on a number of war cabinet members. Black became known in Bush's inner circle as 'The flies-on-the-eyeballs guy.'" Perhaps that was why they didn't fire him for failing to stop bin Laden all those years he was in charge of the CTC... Shaun PS -- The "head in a box" comment has been reported before, by Woodward and others. Apparently (and this I can't remember the source for, but it might have been Steve Coll's Ghost Wars) when he was asked about it, Black dryly commented "Well, we'll need DNA to prove its him."
