Marriott Hotel bombers. The trio arrested, who belonged to Jemaah Islamiyah, the terror group that carried out the 2003 suicide bombing in Jakarta, were arrested in central Sulawesi on Sunday, senior police officer Lieutenant-Colonel Soleh Hidayat said. "These three people are suspected of being members of the network behind the bombing of the Marriot Hotel in Jakarta," Lt-Col Hidayat said. Officers also seized two homemade guns, 15 bullets and powder used to make explosives, he said. Indonesian authorities have meanwhile charged four more suspects in the 2004 bombing of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, while a court prepared its verdict against an Islamic militant accused of transporting explosives used in the Marriott bombing. Ismail, alias Muhammad Ikhwan, may face the death penalty under Indonesia's anti-terror laws for his alleged role in the Marriott blast. He is the 12th person sentenced in connection with the attack, which killed 12 people, including a suicide bomber. The court is due to deliver its verdict later today. The trials of the four new suspects in the embassy bombing are due to begin soon. Proceedings against one other suspect charged in that blast, which killed 10 including a suicide bomber, already have begun. The Marriott attack has been blamed on Jemaah Islamiyah, which is linked to the al-Qaeda. The group is also accused in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings and the 2004 Australian Embassy bombing. Police have now arrested eight people in the hotel blast, which killed 12 people, including a suicide bomber. Several key suspects remain at large. The alleged masterminds of both attacks - Malaysians Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Mohamed Top - are still on the run. privacy <javascript:void(0)> terms <javascript:void(0)> C The Australian <http://server-au.imrworldwide.com/cgi-bin/count?url=&rnd=1115258751029&cid= au_newscorp_0&ref=http%3A//www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0 %2C5744%2C15165272%25255E1702%2C00.html&sr=sr1024x768:cd32:lgen-us:jey:cky:t z-5:ctlan:hpn> [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
