Baghdad, Iraq (AHN) - The family of Douglas Wood, an Australian man
held hostage in Iraq, has pleaded to his captors and offered to make a
charitable donation to the Iraqi charity of their choice, if they will
agree to release him unharmed.

Wood is being held hostage by a terrorist group known as the Shura
Council of the Mujahideen. They have threatened to kill him tomorrow
unless Australian troops are withdrawn from Iraq.
The Australian government has made it clear that it will not negotiate
or heed the terrorist demands.
Wood's brother, Malcom, says the donation offer is being conveyed by
Sheikh Taj El-Din Al Hilaly.

Malcom Wood stated in a televised statement: "We know those who are
holding Douglas will share our wish to provide help and support for
the people of Iraq,"... "We appeal to them to inform us through
trusted community leaders about how they would want this charitable
effort to be used."

Malcolm Wood would not comment on the amount of the donation or
specifics on how the donation would be paid and to whom.
