THE LAST SNAP OF ALDGATE BOMBER

Jeremy Armstrong
THIS is the last picture of Shehzad Tanweer taken just days before
he carried out the Aldgate Tube bombing.
Wearing a white zip-up top, the 22-year-old stares blankly at the
camera, showing no emotion.
The image of Tanweer emerged as police said he and fellow suicide
bomber Mohammed Sidique Khan, 30, may have had bomb-making lessons
in Pakistan.
The pair flew to Karachi on November 19, 2004, returning on February
8 this year. They also spent time in Lahore.
Another of the bombers, Hasib Hussain, 18, travelled separately to
Karachi on July 15 last year.
A senior source on the Scotland Yard inquiry team said: "It is
possible they travelled to Pakistan in order to receive instructions
on how to make those devices before returning and setting to work.
"The ingredients you need to make a bomb are widely available and
you do not need a Phd in chemistry to be taught the basics on how to
bring them together.
"Everyone has been working on the theory that there was a bomber No
5, a leader who flew into the UK just before the attacks, helped to
mastermind the plot and then flew out just before it was put into
place.
"But it could be that these men were taught how to do this alone.
They may have travelled to Pakistan just for that reason."
Last night British police were quizzing a man in Pakistan captured
with explosives and believed to be linked to one of the bombers.
Meanwhile, former classmates of Tube bomber Jermaine Lindsay, 19,
who carried out the King's Cross atrocity, said he tried to convert
fellow pupils to Islam and ranted about al-Qaeda.
Daniel Mullins, 19, who was in his class at Rawthorpe High School,
Huddersfield, said: "He began hanging around with Asians and
changed. He was preaching and talked about al-Qaeda."
