Brother of London bombings suspect held in Rome is granted house arrest ROME The brother of a suspect in the failed London bombings of July 21 was granted house arrest on Monday because he is not believed linked to terrorist groups, his lawyer said.
Italian resident Remzi Issac, who was being held in isolation in Rome's Regina Coeli prison on charges of possessing false documents, was granted house arrest with immediate effect, attorney Antonietta Sonnessa said. Prosecutors had argued that Issac's false documents were used to help terrorist groups, she said. Sonnessa said she had appealed to have Issac released from jail, and was planning to file another appeal against his house arrest. Issac's movements are still restricted on the basis of the false document charge. Sonnessa was unable to provide more details and the judge who made the decision has yet to release the court's finding. In Italy, however, suspects are generally detained pending indictment and trial if authorities believe there is a danger they might flee, tamper with evidence or repeat the crime. Issac is one of three brothers arrested in Italy last month. Among them is Ethiopian-born Hamdi Issac, arrested in Remzi Issac's Rome apartment on July 29 and suspected for his role in an attempted bombing at a London subway station eight days earlier. Hamdi Issac's extradition to Britain was approved Wednesday. He is also represented by Sonnessa, who is expected to appeal the extradition approval in the next few days. A third brother, Fati Issac, was picked up in the northern city of Brescia and accused of destroying or hiding documents sought by investigators. He was released Wednesday without being charged, the news agency ANSA reported. His lawyer in Brescia did not immediately return a message left at his office late Wednesday. 050822 182058 Copyright 2005 Associated Press. All rights reserved. "Fair Use" legally eliminates the need to obtain permission or pay royalties for the use of previously copyrighted materials if the purposes of display include "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research." Section 107 establishes four criteria for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies as a "fair use". A work used does not necessarily have to satisfy all four criteria to qualify as an instance of "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality. If you wish to use copyrighted material for purposes of your own that go beyond 'fair use,' you must obtain permission from the copyright owner.
