Blind Sheik ill Convicted terrorist Omar Abdel-Rahman, the Egyptian cleric in prison for plotting terrorist attacks in New York, is in failing health, according to his wife. Abdel-Rahman is a leader in the outlawed Egyptian Islamic Group and is suffering from chronic illnesses and a lack of proper medical treatment, his wife claims. Abdel Rahman is in solitary confinement at high-security facility in Colorado. He was moved there recently from a medical center in Rochester, Minn. Hasan Abdel Rahman, a son, also was quoted as saying that Abdel Rahman suffers from diabetes and amnesia and that his mental state has deteriorated due to prison. Abdel Rahman's wife said her husband traveled to New York to conduct Islamist activities but the "Zionist lobby" in New York fabricated charges against him and other followers, claiming they were behind the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and plots to bomb tunnels and bridges in New York. "I am isolated from the whole world. No one sees what they put in my food or drink and they might resort to slow death with me," Abdel Rahman told his wife in a letter. "They might put poison in the food, medicine or syringe. They might infect me with a dangerous disease or give me a dosage of drugs that is lethal or causes madness, especially as I smell strange and unpleasant smells from the floor above me together with a constant shshsh-like sound of an old and worn-out air conditioner, banging noises and hammerings like the sound of bombs that last day and night. They will then fabricate false lies and reasons. Do not believe what they say. They are good liars and might fabricate a moral wrongdoing and take photos of it."
