Date : 2006-03-19 LTTE enters cyber terrorism http://www.asiantribune.com/show_news.php?id=17372
The Intelligence Agency of the Sri Lanka's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has begun its cyber terror tactics through its agents operating mainly from Norway. Elusive Shanmuganathan Sivasankaran , nom be guerre Pottu Amman, has launched cyber terrorism group and also launched two news websites of the intelligence agency www.sibernews.com <http://www.sibernews.com/> and www.nitharsanam.com <http://www.nitharsanam.com/> to put out threats, intimidations, send hate e-mails, to post spam, viruses and to hack websites. These tactics are aimed at suppressing the free media exposing the horrors and terrors of the LTTE. Many new anti-LTTE websites, run by the Tamils have come up in recent times. Unable to face the barrage of fire coming from these websites, the LTTE has adopted cyber terror tactics to suppress this alternative media. It is now a common tactic for the LTTE's cyber terror operatives to call the web hosting companies of the websites and threaten them with filing cases against them for hosting websites opposed to the LTTE. One such tactic is for an LTTE operative to pressure the web hosting companies in Europe and North America with a threat of court action if they do not remove anti-LTTE stories. They complain that those news items are a threat to their lives and the story should be removed. Here is a sample of their complaint written in "Babu English": "I like to make a Court case and I want to send One Cort case Letter to this Webediter so please can you give us Full Contack information, We send Nearly 100 Police lerrter to his mail but he did't replay to us. We need urgent Reply. Mail to us. Regards ando Dimal IP" The LTTE cyber terrorists would also come up with concocted stories of death threats issued to them. It is learnt the "Journalists without Borders" has published those concocted stories without any attempt to inquire into the bona -fides of those allegations. Independent journalists are concerned that "Journalists without Borders" is being used by the LTTE to plant its stories to discredit media outlets exposing human rights violations by the LTTE. Earlier it was Neruppu.com - a Tamil news website was the first to come under such type of threat. As the cyber terrorists operating from Norway increased the pressure with the hosting company, the Tamil news website had to look for alternative hosting arrangements. Subsequently, Sri Lankan Tamils in Denmark came up with a solution. They have opened up a server to host many websites to shield them from the threat and intimidation of the LTTE's cyber terrorists' organizations. These cyber terrorists are also involved in doctoring images of Tamil political leaders to disseminate false propaganda. One such fake photo was that of V. Anandasangaree address the military leaders. One of the noted offenders is Pottu Amman's www.nitharsanam.com <http://www.nitharsanam.com/> . It has earned the nickname of being "the messenger of death " . It is learnt that one political activist's from London is seeking legal and police action to obtain the details of the Nitharsanam website owners to file case against the cyber terrorist for filing unsubstantiated news stories against him. Continuous reminders sent to the hosting company to provide details of the said website details has failed to get a response. He is now seeking alternative legal methods to file a case against the proxy hosting company in its own country - USA. - Asian Tribune - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Copyright C 2006 www.asiantribune.com. Section 107 establishes four criteria for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies as a "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality.
