And the reason that Muslims took no action against fellow Muslims is?????

Koranic...mortal sin to betray a Muslim to non-Muslims.

TORONTO - The oldest member of the group accused of hatching a foiled
terrorist bomb plot on Toronto used a Mississauga strip-mall mosque to draw
young and impressionable Muslim minds to an extreme version of Islam, says
one of Mississauga's prominent Islamic figures.

Qayyum Abdul Jamal, 43, was merely a volunteer at the Al-Rahman Islamic
Centre for Islamic Education, occasionally cleaning and running errands,
said Fahim Bukhari, the director of the Mississauga Muslim Community Centre.

The mosque's management, however, was warned about Mr. Jamal by numerous
people, including the local Liberal MP, said Mr. Bukhari, who often prayed
at the mosque because it was founded by his uncle.

"He spends too much time with the youth. He's 43 years old and he goes
bowling with them. He goes to barbecues. He plays soccer with them," said
Mr. Bukhari, adding that five of the young men arrested on Friday were
regulars at the mosque. "I'm not surprised by the raids. I knew his views."

It's a similar picture to the one painted by Mr. Jamal's neighbours, who
grew suspicious of the man and his family.

It was after midnight, and about a month after the terrorist attacks of
Sept. 11, 2001, when Kim Bastarache looked out her front door and saw a
video shoot.

The rain was pounding, but she said she could clearly see Mr. Jamal across
the street holding a video camera. He was videotaping two men, who appeared
to be acting, she says.

One of the men was holding a briefcase, and was grabbed by the other man and
hauled into the garage by the arm.

"I didn't know if they were doing a documentary or what," Ms. Bastarache
said.

The incident, in the Mississauga townhouse co-op, was the first in a series
to cause Ms. Bastarache and others on the block to wonder about the family.

Mr. Jamal rarely smiled, they say, and his wife, Cheryfa Macaulay Jamal, 44,
wasn't much of a talker, either.

At first, the neighbours wondered whether their silence stemmed from a
devotion to their faith; Mrs. Jamal, a white-skinned woman who neighbours
believe is originally from Halifax, always wears a burka; Mr. Jamal usually
wears a traditional Muslim cap. On their front door, there are three
stickers, two with Arabic writing, the other in English. It states: "In the
name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave and upon our Lord
we place our trust."

As years passed, the neighbours said, they realized the Jamals' behaviour
could not be explained by religion. There are lots of Muslims in
Mississauga, but not many like the Jamals.

"One thing I can tell you for sure -- this guy was weird," said Jerry
Tavares, a neighbour. "There was one time I said, 'Hi,' and he just looked
at me. That was it."

Mr. Jamal didn't seem to have a job, Mr. Tavares said. And no one knew why
the couple and their young children -- either three or four -- were allowed
to live in a unit reserved for people in wheelchairs; no one in the house
used one.

Occasionally, Mrs. Jamal would bring home the yellow school bus she drove.
And she was advocating for a group called the Toronto District Muslim
Education Assembly.

In May, 2000, she gave a presentation to the Toronto District School Board,
demanding that teachers give parents ample notice if they planned on
teaching any material that promoted "homosexual or bisexual lifestyles, or
sexual promiscuity."

Neighbours said young people seemed to be drawn to Mr. Jamal. There was
always a steady stream of men, who appeared to be in their late teens and
early 20s, entering the house, Ms. Bastarache said.

"Fair Use" criteria established in Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976.
The principle of "Fair Use" was established as law by Section 107 of The
Copyright Act of 1976. "Fair Use" legally eliminates the need to obtain
permission or pay royalties for the use of previously copyrighted materials
if the purposes of display include "criticism, comment, news reporting,
teaching, scholarship, and research." Section 107 establishes four criteria
for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies
as a "fair use". A work used does not necessarily have to satisfy all four
criteria to qualify as an instance of "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is
determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not
substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality. If you wish to use
copyrighted material for purposes of your own that go beyond 'fair use,' you
must obtain permission from the copyright owner. For more information go to:
