Francis doesn't get it: they fired the wrong kind of missile warheads and a
good portion of that 2% that is missing is much of the underside of the nose
section. I heard the testimony from the metallurgists who explained that
there were 1,400 small holes in the metal and the missile guys talking about
the big chunks of metal shrapnel that conventional missiles send out. No
fit? OK, no missile. Done.

Idiots. They didn't consider the less-conventional tungsten pellets of the
RBS-70. An influence fuze detonation of a warhead flying near the aircraft
would hit it with about half of its pellets, and it has 3,000. Cut that in
half and you have 1,500 pellets of 3mm tungsten. How far off from that is
1,400 holes not much bigger than 3mm?

Hot tungsten burns aluminum. No fuel from the fuel tank would ever have hit
the forward fuselage. There was very little in the tank, most would have
burned in the initial explosion of the fuel tank and any that spilled out
and remained liquid would have vaporized and been scavenged back at 400+ mph
by the slipstream before it could have reached, much less ignited the bottom
of the forward fuselage as it broke off. So, how is it that the bottom of
the fwd fuselage is charred black and shows obvious evidence of sheet metal
pushed INWARD against surrounding frame members when an internal explosion
should have bulged all of the skin outward, away from the framing members.

And, last but not least, how do the nose gear doors happen to get pushed
inward and backward, when the ogive of the nose, where the nose wheel is
located, is well up away from the plane along the bottom of the fuselage?
Ok, that's right, I forgot: an explosion of the fuel tank runs forward of
the plane and then turns around to smack the nose gear doors inward and blow
them off of the plane to be among the first debris to fall off of the wreck.

No, in all seriousness, the only thing that can accomplish all of this is an
external detonation, which can only be caused by a missile, and the only one
with the range, the warhead characteristics, and in possession of an Iran
that wanted to punish us for ignoring warnings over sanctions threats, was
the RBS-70.

Francis would do himself a great favor by simply responding with a no
comment on such queries. The evidence of a missile is overwhelming, but
only if you know what to look for--and if you really want the answers.

What astonishes me is that my original article on this, "Uncivil Air War,"
has been out there for 10 years and has been on the internet, free for
anybody to read, and yet it is virtually ignored when it provides most of
the ansers, unlikely these exploitation books claiming Navy missiles. The
book FIRST STRIKE would be a good step in the right direction if it weren't
for the fact that that SOB, James Sanders, who wrote the first book of lies
about a Navy missiles, wasn't involved in it. That guy should be in jail
for fraud. His book, THE DOWNING OF TWA FLIGHT 800 was an exploitative piece
of garbage.

What Sanders does not realize is that his little money-maker actually
indicts him as a liar. There are black and white photos of the infamous
"red missile residue" fabric strips and the inside back cover contained a
color photo. One thing I noted upon close inspection at the time was that
you could clearly see a shiny reflection of glue in some of the crystalline
shapes. The back photo doesn't reveal the size very well but the B&W one
does. These are very thin strips. This is a guy who claims that he had
access to an entire sheet of fabric stolen and given to him by a TWA
employee. Why cut strips from this, unless it is actually a case that they
reveal that they are, indeed, stripes of glue and not widespread stains of
alleged missle motor residue.

Not only that, but any residue from a just-launched and exploded missile
(ok, even one that didn't detonate) would be hot and burning. Where is the
soot? Where is the black scorching?

Then look at the illustration, again from his book, that shows you the
seating plan with seats along the alleged missile path. If that many seats
were contaminated, why does Sanders only have two little strips? Because it
is a lie and because his fabric strips contain only adhesive, not missile
"residue."

Questions Remain 10 Years After Flight 800

By FRANK ELTMAN, Associated Press Writer

UPDATED 41 MINUTES AGO
SHIRLEY, N.Y. - A little past 8:30 p.m., as the blistering July sun melted
in the west, a jumbo jet carrying students, honeymooners, businessmen and
others to Paris exploded in a fireball, raining carnage into the Atlantic
Ocean off Long Island.
It had been only a dozen minutes since TWA Flight 800 took off from Kennedy
Airport.
Initially, investigators were not sure whether the calamity that killed all
230 people aboard the flight on July 17, 1996, was caused by a bomb, a
missile or mechanical failure. Just two days before the start of the Summer
Olympics in Atlanta, it was difficult not to suspect foul play.
People still question the official conclusion, reached in 2000, that TWA 800
was destroyed by an explosion in the Boeing 747's center fuel tank, likely
caused by a spark from a wiring short-circuit.
"I think it could have been somebody shooting at the plane, or it could have
been a terrorist attack," said Mona Morfis of Long Island, on a recent visit
with her grandchildren to the seaside memorial garden that pays tribute to
the victims and their rescuers.
The man who spent years leading the federal investigation into the crash has
no such doubts.
Robert Francis, the former vice chairman of the National Transportation
Safety Board, still gets missives urging him to come clean about terrorism
theories or witness accounts of a streak of light heading toward the plane.
Now retired and living in McLean, Va., Francis said he never responds to
"very insulting e-mails, asking me when am I going to tell the truth and
asking why am I lying."
Because Flight 800 disintegrated over the ocean, Francis said, there was
ample time for conspiracy theories to flourish.
"There was no ability to make a determination quickly," he said. "We were
picking up the wreckage in 130 feet of water."
Investigators eventually recovered 98 percent of the wreckage from the ocean
floor and painstakingly rebuilt a large part of the airliner.
"We studied if it had been a missile, what would it have done to the
fuselage? We had scientists in the desert shooting rockets into old
fuselages," he said in a recent telephone interview. "We didn't find a
single piece of wreckage that would have pointed to that kind of explosion.
So I say to the missile theorists: 'Show me something.' "
Another theory was that a missile from a Navy ship 200 miles away took down
the plane, but Francis questioned why no one on the cruiser ever came
forward. "You mean to tell me everybody kept their mouths shut?"
He said investigators also searched for evidence that a terrorist had
launched a shoulder-fired missile from the nearby shore. "We never found any
of that," he said. "They searched every marina, every wharf."
But why did so many people have doubts?
"It's more acceptable to the public if somebody did this, rather than blame
it on maintenance or design," said Pete Field, a retired Marine Corps pilot
who now works as an aviation crash consultant.
He said witnesses who claimed to have seen streaks of light heading toward
the plane actually saw pieces of flaming wreckage falling, the official
theory offered by the NTSB.
"You see trails (of light) and it's easy to get your mind confused," he
said. "I do accident investigations all the time and I find that the mind
traps an image, even if it's not there. Even some aviation experts will tell
you they saw something that just could not have happened."
Eileen Best, who tends the garden at the TWA 800 Memorial at Smith Point
County Park, said many visitors have shared their misgivings about the
official conclusion.
"Many people on Long Island still have doubts," she said as she prepared the
garden for a 10-year commemoration on July 17.
In addition to the 230 people from 14 countries who perished, the memorial
honors the hundreds of police officers, firefighters, rescue workers and
boaters who raced to the scene.
A bench at the memorial is dedicated to the Rev. Mychal Judge, the New York
Fire Department chaplain who was on duty on July 17, 1996, and acted as a
counselor to the mourners for years afterward. Six weeks before he became
the first official victim of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center
towers on Sept. 11, 2001, Judge joined relatives at a ceremony for the fifth
anniversary of the TWA 800 crash.
"Every year that you come here, you make this spot more blessed and more
sacred, if that's possible," Judge said.
