posted: September 16, 2006 Tehran, Sept. 16, (BNA) Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Mohammed Ali Hossein, has strongly condemned the offensive remarks on Islam that ent out from Pope Benedict XVI, describing them as " of a political dimension that contradict religions' noble and moral notions". In a statement transmitted by the Iranian Islamic News Agency (IRNA), he said that the Pope's statements were not in line with his religious leadership and high-ranking Vatican responsibilities. He noted that spreading rumors on religions that have common roots "is a flagrant mistake". He called on the Pope to reconsider his statements and apologize for the mistake to help safeguard religious values and sanctities, appease Moslems' anger and foster inter- religions and cultures dialogue.
