3 Questioned After Security Scare At Port Of Miami

(CBS4) MIAMI Three men were detained Sunday trying to pass through security
at the Port of Miami, an FBI spokeswoman said, and are currently being
questioned. CBS4 News sources say it may be a matter of a paperwork problem,
not a possible terror threat.

A truck driver raised suspicions when he made inconsistent statements at the
port's delivery entrance, FBI spokeswoman Judy Orihuela said.

"At some point he said he was alone," she said.

However, police stopped the truck and found two more men in the truck cab,
she said.

CBS4's Brian Andrews says sources tell him the man was an Iraqi national,
driving a semi-truck into the port. When he was questioned, the CBS4
sources, say, the truck's manifest didn't match the information he was
supplying security.

That's when the truck was searched, and the additional men were found.

The men, all of Middle Eastern descent, were in the country legally and do
not appear on any terrorist watch list, Orihuela said. The names of the men
have not been released.

There was no immediate threat to the port, but its cargo area was closed
while authorities used an X-ray machine to search the truck, Orihuela said.

The Port of Miami is the busiest cruise ship port in the nation, and Sunday
is one of the busiest days of the week for cruise ship traffic, with as many
as 15 thousand passengers boarding cruise ships . Sources at the port say
cruise ship passengers were not affected, beyond a slowdown of traffic into
the port caused by the increased security.

Several law enforcement agencies were investigating. The case is being
turned over the FBI which is routine for them to do. At this point do not
know what kind of cargo was in the truck.

No federal charges are expected to be filed.
