Government to Aid America in Tracking Iranian Terror Funding 08:15 Jan 28, '07 / 9 Shevat 5767 (IsraelNN.com) Following an American resolution to boycott Iranian banks, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has decided to appoint a special group to track Iranian funding of terrorism. The group will track the flow of cash from Iran to groups hostile to Israel, such as the Hizbullah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad. Israeli and American officials held a strategic dialogue last week in Tel Aviv. During the dialogue, American representatives explained their plan to isolate Iranian banks, in hopes of reducing funding for Iran’s nuclear project. America is currently working to convince European banks to join the boycott. American officials have also asked for Israel’s help in gathering information on the Iranian regime. They hope to understand Iran’s internal politics and the factors influencing the stability of the current regime, and want to learn from Israeli security forces.
