Ahvaz, Khuzestan Prov, Jan 31, IRNA

Iran-Power Plants-Electricity
The Ramin and Abadan power plants generated 9.938 million megawatts of
electricity per hour (mw/h) in the first 10 months of the current
Iranian year (started March 21, 2006).

The figure is broken down into 7.883 million and 2.055 million mw/h of
electricity generated by Ramin and Abadan power plants, respectively.

The two power plants' production exceeded the target by three percent.

The power plants, located in the southwestern Iranian province of
Khuzestan, produced 11.241 million mw/h of electricity last year.

Both are managed by the Khuzestan Regional Electricity Company.

The country has two other thermal and gas power plants -- Zargan and
Fajr -- both located in Khuzestan.

Meanwhile, the Shahid Abbaspour, Dez, Karkheh, Karoun 3 and Maroun dams
in Khuzestan are currently the major sources of hydro-electric power for
the country.
