Train tanker explodes Beacon Journal staff report Akron firefighters responded to an explosion at the Wheeling and Lake Erie train yard in the 1900 block of East Market Street near Interstate 76 and Canton Road this morning. Fire and Hazmat crews were on the scene by approximately 8:30 a.m. spraying a fire retardant foam on the train car. Authorities have not made an official determination of the contents of the tanker car. According to officials, fire crews were called to the scene with reports of an explosion and smoke coming from a tank car. There were no injuries and no evacuation was ordered.
