Daniel Joseph Maldonado told authorities he was ready to kill Americans for
his political beliefs. Maldonado,is the first American to be charged with
training to fight with al-Qaida in Somalia.

He decided to go to Somalia to wage jihad, which authorities say he
described during an interview as "raising the word of Allah, uppermost, by
speaking and fighting against all those who are against the Islamic state."
He chose to help Somalia because he said it is the only legitimate Islamic
state, authorities say.

Daniel Joseph Maldonado AKA Daniel Al-Jughaifi AKA Abu Mohammed.
He is currently in Federal custody in Houston. According to the criminal
complaint against Daniel, he relocated from Boston to Houston in August of
2005. By the 5th of September 2005 he was active on the islamic network
forum occupying the position of "Office Manager", which in practice meant he
was a moderator with administrative privileges in the forum. He posted 478
times to the forum and his final posting is dated 15 September 2006.

It takes a community to make a terrorist and it only take a handful of
people to build and maintain such communities.

We come to the heart of the matter. Attitudes like Daniel's don't develop in
a vacuum. They develop and are nurtured in community with other Muslims, and
that community is found online. Islamist forums function like little
terrorist factories. Muslims enter at one end, and terrorists and their
plots issue forth from the other end.

Time and again we are told by the politically correct "experts" not to worry
about Islam posing a threat to our way of life. We are repeatedly lectured
that only a very small minority of Muslims are troublemakers who are giving
the peaceful masses of Muslims a bad name. We are also informed that the
terrorists, who happened to be Muslims, are the disaffected and the young.

Wouldn't it be more prudent to let the facts settle the matter, rather than
blindly accepting either position? Of course it would, except for one huge
problem. In the face of threats, people tend to go to the mind's medicine
cabinet and take a few denial and rationalization pills...
