Nation of Islam leader: Turkey is our big brother On his third visit to Turkey, Nation of Islam leader Wallace D. Mohammed said he loved the country and that each and every visit had been nicer than the previous one. Mohammed said he recited the Fatiha -- the first section of the Koran -- for Atatürk when he first visited Anıtkabir, Atatürk's mausoleum. He said his father, Elijah Mohammad, used to tell him good things about Turkey in his childhood and that only now did he see why. Mohammed was also pleased with the media's interest, which he said was more than they had in the US. "I know why, because Turkey is our big brother," he told reporters. In response to a question about the US invasion of Iraq, he expressed regret for supporting the US Army against Saddam since the Gulf crisis in 1991. He added that they kept calling on US President George W. Bush to withdraw. Mohammed also added that he and his community supported Turkey's stance on the allegations of the so-called Armenian genocide. He will visit the mayors of Ankara and İstanbul and Kocatepe Mosque in Ankara and Sultanahmet Mosque in İstanbul. 07.03.2007 Today's Zaman Ankara +++ ------------------------ Yahoo!
