Yushchenko’s advisor: “Russian will not become second language in Ukraine” Today, on March 6, Ukrainian president’s advisor Yaroslav Lesyuk announced at a news conference in Lvov that “Russian will never become the second official language in Ukraine, as this will never happen,” a REGNUM correspondent informs. According to Lesyuk, the current parliamentary majority needs to collect over 300 votes (from 450 members of the Ukrainian parliament), because it concerns changing the Ukrainian constitution. “Taking into account the agreement signed recently by Our Ukraine and Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko, there is no possibility of consolidating so many votes at the parliament to pass the decision,” he said. The official believes that “the question of language is a question of Ukraine’s existence as an independent state, and official status of Russian does not correspond with the direction of Ukrainian state development.” Yaroslav Lesyuk believes that Ukrainian have a lot to teach from Russians. “Our ‘In Ukraine we trust’ does not sound so earnestly as their ‘In Russia we trust’. It is a question of mentality,” he concluded. +++ ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo! Groups gets a make over.
