Italian killed in Croatia landmine explosion Published: Tuesday, 6 March, 2007, 10:02 AM Doha Time ZAGREB: A 34-year-old Italian man was killed in southern Croatia when he stepped on a landmine left over from the country’s 1991-1995 war, police said yesterday. His body was found late Sunday in a field near the village of Donji Biljani, in a wartime frontline area, police said. The investigation was still ongoing. The man, who worked near the coastal town of Zadar as a dog trainer, was reported missing several hours earlier after he did not return from a walk. According to police, the area was not marked out as a landmine zone. – AFP Pilot dies after crashing trainer in Turkey ANKARA: A Turkish air force pilot was killed on a training flight when his aircraft crashed in the west of the country yesterday, Anatolia news agency reported, quoting local officials. The plane had taken off from an airbase at Cigli, near Izmir, on the Aegean coast, and crashed for as yet unknown reasons, the report said.
