GCC insurance market seen at $14b 3/7/2007 DUBAI: The insurance premium market in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) market is expected to grow at an annual compound rate of 18-20 per cent in the next five years. Currently estimated at $5-6 billion, the insurance premium market is projected to reach $14 billion by the end of 2012, according to Chief Executive of Nexus Mahmoud Nadjoumi. Nexus is the largest independent financial advisor (IFA) in the Middle East. UAE spending on general insurance products (non-life) is estimated at 1.2 per cent of the GDP compared with 3.2 per cent in Singapore. The growth in insurance premium market is fundamentally fuelled by construction, energy sectors as well as the rising population and inflow of expatriates. +++ ------------------------ Yahoo!
