06.03.2007, 15.42
TBILISI, March 6 (Itar-Tass) - Zviad Gamsakhurdia will be buried in the
capital Tbilisi, the widow of Georgia’s first president, Manana
Archvadze, told reporters on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli on Monday ordered government offices to
attend to “all organisational matters of the reburial of remains of
Gamsakhurdia from Grozny in Tbilisi”.

He did no specify a date of there burial, saying that “at this stage, it
is necessary to receive an official confirmation of an expert
examination that the remains found in (Chechnya’s capital) Grozny are
those of Gamsakhurdia; then all measures for the reburial will be taken”.

Identification of the remains will be carried out at a forensic
laboratory in Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia, as well as in Tbilisi
and in one of Western laboratories.

Tbilisi vice mayor Mamuka Akhvlediani said on Sunday that the reburial
was set for March 31, a day when Gamsakhurdia would have turned 68.

He will be buried in the grounds of the St. Trinity Cathedral.
