Three dead and five wounded in bus blast

Quetta/Miranshah: Three people were killed and five wounded when a roadside
bomb blasted a passing bus in Balochistan, officials said yesterday.

Police said the bomb was detonated by remote control late on Friday in the
industrial town of Hub, not far from the harbour city of Karachi.

"Three people including the bus driver died on the spot while the five
injured have been shifted to a Karachi hospital," police officer Sheraz Ali
said.

No one immediately took responsibility for the explosion but authorities
have blamed previous attacks on ethnic Baloch rebels fighting for more
autonomy and a greater share in profits from the region's vast mineral
resources.

In a separate statement police said they busted a suspected militant
training centre in a raid yesterday and arrested 14 men including the
grandson of slain tribal rebel Nawab Akbar Bugti.

"A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the camp,"
located in province's Jaffarabad district, police officer Sohail Shaikh
said.

The cache includes 50 landmines, 12 automatic rifles, 10 kilograms of
explosives and seven rockets along with launchers and detonators, the police
official said.

Shot dead

Meanwhile, pro-Taliban militants shot dead a tribesman who confessed on
video to being a US informer, a witness and officials in North Waziristan
tribal region said yesterday.

Militants in Waziristan have killed dozens of people suspected of
collaborating with the Pakistani government or spying for US forces fighting
a Taliban insurgency across the border in Afghanistan.

"I have seen the CD and the man, identified as Rahim Khan, admitting that he
was spying for the Americans," said Gul Mahroof Shah, a resident of Alikhel
village, where Gul's bullet-riddled body was found on Friday night.
