Winds of War: The Good German and the Good Muslim

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
(Edmund Burke)

I've been thinking about that quote from Edmund and thought about the phrase
"The Good German."

 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Germans> Wikipedia defines "The Good
German" as those Germans who claimed not to have supported the Nazi regime,
yet made no claim to have opposed it in any significant way.

It is a saying among our troops that there are no real Nazis in Germany,
only "good Germans." Every crime Germany committed against humanity seems to
have been done by someone else.

The term has come to be used to refer more generically to people in any
country who observe reprehensible things taking place - whether done by a
government or by another powerful institution - but remain silent, neither
raising objections nor taking steps to change the course of events.

Sound a lot like the moderate Muslims - or the 'Good Muslims' - of today.

Excuses are made that the Islamists do not speak for Muslims and that the
radicals represent a small minority of the Muslim population. Yet, we see
little organized efforts of 'Good Muslims' in standing up to this fringe
element in their midst that has supposedly hijacked their religion.

The most visible and organized efforts we see from Muslims who have the ear
of politicians, educational institutions and the media are those of Council
on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Islamic Society of North America
(ISNA), and the Muslim Student Association (MSA) - the first two were
labeled "unindicted co-conspirator" in the Holy Land Foundation case
<http://www.nysun.com/article/55778> . These supposed 'moderate' Muslim
organizations have been proven to have roots in radical Islam and seek to
turn America into an Islamic state - in their own
<http://www.anti-cair-net.org/> words.

Though there are some anti-Islamist Muslim organizations like
<http://www.aifdemocracy.org/> American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AFID)
s.html> who try to combat the strategies of CAIR, MSA, and ISNA, their voice
and effect is small. The very same politicians, educational institutions,
and media that give credence to CAIR, MSA and ISNA by submitting to their
demands or accept their propaganda as fact, pretty much ignore these
anti-Islamist organizations and individuals.

Muslims in the West are playing with fire. By standing by and letting the
Islamists set the agenda for their faith, they risk being swept up in the
unbridled and unmitigated retaliation of all 'Good Muslims' when the
Islamists believe we have been weakened enough in both thought and deed to
defend our rights, our nation, our family and our selves.

And this, like all enemies of democracy before them, is a fatal mistake. No
politician. No University President. No civil rights spokesperson. No
leftist columnist or liberal talk show host will be able to prevent the
retribution on 'Good Muslims' wherever they are found when hundreds of
thousands of Americans are killed or
<http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/06/exclusive_suici.html> hundreds
of threatened suicide bombings like those in Europe take place here in the
US.

It's time for all 'Good Muslims' to make their voice heard in no uncertain
terms through at least one national organization that commands the respect
of politicians, institutions, organizations and the media.

But that will not happen until such an organization finds the financial
where-with-all on the level of the Islamist funded organizations like CAIR,
ASN and INSA and wahhabist mosques. Money, lots of money, must be acquired
by this anti-Islamist organization from the 'Good Muslims'.

And here's how.

Muslims have an obligation to give a certain amount of their income to
charity. This is called <http://www.zpub.com/aaa/zakat-def.html> Zakat. If
the 'Good Muslims' don't want the Islamists to speak for them, then take
part of that Zakat and create and fund a moderate Muslim organization that
supports the anti-Islamist view of the supposed Muslim majority. That kind
of money from the millions of Muslims in this country and millions more in
the West can mount a strong opposition to the propaganda of the current
Muslim mouthpieces.

If the 'Good Muslims' want to dodge the bullet of retribution that the Good
Germans were unable to, then there's an old infidel saying that they should
take to heart.

"Charity begins at home."
