Joanna Sugden

The creator of a video threatening an opponent of the 'mega-mosque' was
refused entry to the United States and has spent time in a mental hospital
according to his imam.

Moynel Islam, imam of Stevenage Central Mosque said that Mohammad Abdullah,
24, was behind the YouTube profile showing the video 'obituary' of
Councillor Alan Craig that is currently being investigated by the police.

Mr Islam told Times Online that Mr Abdullah suffers from an illness that
causes him to be hyperactive. "There's a certain illness he has, he is very
intelligent but he doesn't know what to do with his life.He has been in a
mental hospital before."

When Mr Abdullah attempted to enter the United States to visit a girlfriend
he met on the internet, he was refused entry, Mr Islam said. "At the
immigration office they asked him 'Do you know bin Laden', he told them 'He
is not bin Laden, he is Osama bin Laden, how can you insult him by not using
his full name?'.

The haunting video shows pictures of the main opponent to the 12 000
capacity mosque proposed for the Olympic site, with his family. Entitled "In
memory of Councillor Alan Craig" the film includes the messages "We will all
return to God" and "The mosque will be built in time for the Olympics in
2012".

Mr Craig, who was told of Mr Abdullah's past by Times Online, said: 'If that
is the case he has my sympathy, anybody who has mental health problems
deserves sympathy. It doesn't change what I've said before, the video itself
is disturbing. But there's always a human being behind these things.'

Mr Abdullah was not available for comment when contacted today by Times
Online.
