NEW DELHI: The US has warned that the Lashkar-e-Taiba and other
Pakistan-based terror organisations would continue to launch terror attacks
on India possibly targeting places of religious importance and
transportation network.

Director of National Intelligence J Michael McConnell, a top US intelligence
official, has said that LeT and other terror organisation could target
government buildings, transportation network and places of religious
importance. The assessment is part of a 47-page report on
<http://intelligence.senate.gov/080205/mcconnell.pdf> Annual Threat
Assessment of the Director of National which was submitted to the Senate
Select Committee on Intelligence.

``The Intelligence community assesses that Pakistan-based LeT and other
Kashmir-focused groups will continue attack planning and execution in
India," he said in the report, which mainly assesses the terror threat to
the US.

``Shia and Hindu religious observances are possible targets, as are
transportation networks and government buildings," Mr McConnell said. He
added: "We judge Kashmir-focused groups will continue to support attacks in
Afghanistan, and operatives trained by the groups will continue to feature
in Al-Qaeda trans-national attack planning.'' All these groups are connected
with the al-Qaeda, he further said. However, the report only mentions LeT by
name and as an affiliate of the Al Qaeda. LeT has been involved in a large
number of terror attacks in India with the biggest one being the attack on
Parliament in December 2001.

But reports also warns against the growing instability in Pakistan and the
threats to the US from the increasing Talibanisation of Pakistan. "Al-Qaeda
and its terrorist affiliates continue to pose significant threats to the
United States at home and abroad, and Al-Qaeda's central leadership based in
the border area of Pakistan is its most dangerous component," he said.

Warning that the Al-Qaeda and Taliban elements are now threatening the
existence of Pakistan, the intelligence official in an endorsement to the
Pakistani military says that the Army is the only institution that has the
strength to check the spread of terror elements.

"Al-Qaeda has been able to retain a safe haven in Pakistan's Federally
Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) that provides the organisation many of the
advantages it once derived from its base across the border in Afghanistan,
albeit on a smaller and less secure scale," McConnel said.

"Fair Use" criteria established in Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976.
The principle of "Fair Use" was established as law by Section 107 of The
Copyright Act of 1976. "Fair Use" legally eliminates the need to obtain
permission or pay royalties for the use of previously copyrighted materials
if the purposes of display include "criticism, comment, news reporting,
teaching, scholarship, and research." Section 107 establishes four criteria
for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies
as a "fair use". A work used does not necessarily have to satisfy all four
criteria to qualify as an instance of "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is
determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not
substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality. If you wish to use
copyrighted material for purposes of your own that go beyond 'fair use,' you
