WHO VETTED OBAMA – INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU OR MAXWELL SMART?

Ever since John McCain announced Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as
his running mate, the left has been in irony overdrive.

Among other raps, McCain is charged with tokenism for choosing a
woman as his running mate -- unlike the Democrats, whose choice for
president had nothing to do with race, which is why they remind us at least
hourly that Barack Obama is the first major-party African-American
presidential candidate.

Regarding Palin, the left and its lapdog media are fixated on the
following: 1. Her alleged lack of experience (2 years in the governorship
versus Obama’s 3 ½ years in the Senate) 2. Her unmarried, 17-year-old
daughter’s pregnancy, with the implication that this calls into question her
parenting skills (never mind that the left created the culture in which it’s
all too common for teens to get pregnant) and 3. The allegation that, as
governor, one of her firings was politically motivated. (Appoint a special
prosecutor, posthaste!)

The foregoing caused knee-jerk commentators to question whether
the McCain campaign had properly and thoroughly vetted Palin. Who vetted
her? How long did the process last? Did they interview everyone in the
Alaska state government, and anyone who had contact with Palin from the
moment of her conception?

Here, “vetting” refers to the process of scrutiny and evaluation
that a potential vice-presidential candidate is supposed to undergo --
including an examination of his or her finances, associations and political
history.

The McCain camp is charged with gross negligence in vetting Palin.
Is she really, truly qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency?
they rhetorically inquire.

I'd like to know who vetted Barack Obama? Certainly not the
millions who voted for him in the Democratic primaries, the party regulars
who lined up solidly behind him, the mainstream media who catapulted a
one-term, celebrity Senator into the presidential race, or the 50% of the
electorate who currently say they’ll vote for him.

There are enough skeletons in Obama’s closet to decorate Halloween
Town. Other than his charisma and teleprompter talent, everything about him
screams Red Alert.

Start with the four years he spent in Indonesia with his mother
and Muslim stepfather. (His sperm donor dad was also an adherent of the
Religion of Peace.)

The Obama campaign maintains the candidate never practiced Islam,
never prayed in a mosque and was never instructed in Islam. That would be
false, false -- and false.

For the last two years he lived in Jakarta, Obama attended a
public school where instruction in Islam was mandatory.

According to the school’s principal, when the future messiah was
enrolled at the Sekolah Dasar Negeri Besuki School, Barack Hussein Obama was
registered as a Muslim and participated in Islamic lessons, including
Mengaji – the recitation of sutras from the Koran.

Friends from his Jakarta school days recall the young Obama
visiting an Islamic prayer room in the predominately Muslim neighborhood
where the family resided for a time. Emirsyah Satar, now CEO of the
Indonesian national airlines, says Obama was “quite religious in Islam, but
after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”

The candidate’s half sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, confirms that
Barack was a Muslim in Indonesia, telling The New York Times, “My whole
family was Muslim.”

This is not to suggest that Obama is a sleeper agent -- the
Indonesian Candidate. His conversion to the bizarre form of Christianity
practiced at the Trinity United Church of Christ seems to be sincere. But
why does his campaign feel it's necessary to lie about Obama’s past?

Okay, that was almost 40 years ago. Of more recent vintage is the
Senator’s foray into Kenyan politics.

In 2006, Obama visited the ancestral homeland. It wasn’t quite the
stroll down memory lane portrayed by a supine media.

While there, Barack endorsed a far-left Kenyan politician, Raila
Odinga, then running for president against incumbent Mwai Kibaki. The
Democratic nominee even made campaign appearances with Odinga (like Obama’s
father, a Luo tribesman).

After Odinga lost, he did an African version of Al Gore and
claimed the election was stolen. His supporters rioted and more than 1,000
Kenyans were killed and 350,000 displaced.

The mayhem included attacks against Kikuyu Christians (members of
Kibaki’s tribe) by Luo Muslims. Over 300 churches were destroyed or severely
damaged. In one particularly appalling incident, 50 Christians, including
women and children, were herded into a Pentecostal church which was set on
fire. Those trying to escape were hacked to death with machetes.

To stop the bloodshed, Kibaki made Odinga -- who had signed a
“memo of understanding” with radical Muslims -- his prime minister. It’s
hard to gainsay the claim of Obama supporters that their candidate does have
foreign policy experience.

Closer to home, in July, Chicago lawyer Mazen Ashabi was forced to
resign as Obama’s director of Muslim outreach when the Wall Street Journal
linked Ashabi to Jamal Said, a man the Justice Department believes was
involved in racketeering and fundraising for Hamas.

Was Ashabi properly vetted -- was he thoroughly vetted by the
Obama campaign? In light of the candidate’s other questionable associations,
did he even care?

Since he first ran for the Illinois Senate, Obama has been chummy
with William (“kill the pigs") Ayers and his charming wife Bernardine Dohrn
(who once chortled over the Manson murders) -- one-time leaders of the
Weathermen Underground, who were implicated in terrorist bombings 30 years
before Al Qaeda.

Obama and Ayers served together two years as directors of the
Woods Fund, a $72 million kitty for radical causes. Back in his community
organizer days, the Woods Fund paid Obama’s salary.

When Obama and Ayers made the calls, the Fund gave $75,000 to the
Arab-American Action Network, whose co-founder, Rashid Khalidi, reportedly
worked on behalf of the PLO when it was still designated a terrorist
organization by the State Department.

Like his memory loss over Jeremiah Wright’s sermons, Obama
probably doesn’t recall that in Ayers' 2001 memoir, “Fugitive Days,” the
ex-Weatherman gloated that the 1970s Pentagon bombing was payback for “the
bastards.”

But then, Senator Hope-and-Change spent 20 years sitting in a pew
at the Trinity United Church of Christ listening to a man who made Ayers and
Dohrn look like Sergeant York and Audie Murphy, wrapped in American flags.

In his years at Trinity, Wright became the Ayatollah of
Anti-Americanism -- “G-d damn America,” the “U.S. of KKK,” “white folks
greed runs a world in need,” Israel is an apartheid state that practices
“terrorism,” “America is the No. 1 Killer in the world,” the U.S. government
invented the AIDS virus, 9/11 was our comeuppance for the way we treat
people of color the world over, America runs on racism, etc.

First the conductor of the doubletalk express claimed he’d never
heard Wright make any of these incendiary remarks. Then he allowed that he’d
heard Wright say things he disagreed with (without specifying what they
were), but asked which of us had not disagreed with views expressed by our
minister, priest or rabbi. The most controversial thing I ever heard my
rabbi say was “You have to remain standing for the entire Neilah service at
the close of Yom Kippur.”

Next, Obama declared that he could no more reject Wright than he
could “disown” the black community.

Finally he was “shocked and surprised” by Wright’s ravings.
Assuredly, this “was not the man I met 20 years ago.” Apparently it also
wasn’t the man who married Barack and his wife or baptized his two
daughters, or ran the church the Obamas gave $26,000 to in one year. Nor was
he the man who prayed with Obama in a hotel room just before the Senator
announced he was running for president.

Was Obama also shocked and saddened to learn that Father Michael
Pfleger -- his longtime friend and Wright’s Catholic counterpart -- was
another mental patient in a clerical collar? Shepard of a South Chicago
church, Pfleger believes “America is the greatest sin against God” and
“America has been raping people of color” for as long as anyone can recall.

Obama and Pfleger have been friends since the late 1980s. The
priest contributed $1,500 to various Obama campaigns. As a United States
Senator, Obama directed $225,000 in federal grants to Pfleger’s St Sabina
Church. (Obama never shied away from the back-scratching politics for which
the Windy City is justly famous.)

If Obama was properly vetted, surely someone would have asked
about his relationship with the biggest whack-job of them all, fellow
Chicagoan Louis Farrakhan.

The two clergymen whose names are most closely associated with
Obama think the Nation of Islam leader is the greatest thing since jackboots
and armbands. Pfleger, who had Farrakhan preach in his church, called the
man who once called Judaism a “gutter religion” -- “a prophetic voice” and a
“mentor.”

Wright becomes visibly aroused just thinking about Minister Louie
-- “one of the giants of the African American religious experience,” one who
“truly epitomized greatness” and a shining example of “integrity and
honesty” renowned for his “depth of analysis when it comes to the racial
ills of this country.”

Guilt by association once removed? Hardly. Like the man who
brought him to Christianity (so-called), Obama participated in Farrakhan’s
1995 Million Man March -- which the Anti-Defamation League called “the
largest event led by an anti-Semite in recent American history.”

Not just attended, but gushed over the happening: “What I saw was
a powerful demonstration of an impulse and need for African-American men to
come together to recognize each other and affirm our rightful place in
society.”

“But what was lacking among march organizers,” Obama confessed,
“was a positive agenda, a coherent agenda for change. Without this agenda a
lot of this energy is going to dissipate.” What was really missing in the
Nuremberg rallies was a coherent agenda for change -- other than conquering
the world and annihilating Jews and Slavs.

Farrakhan returned the favor. Addressing 20,000 at this year’s
“Saviors’ Day Convention,” the man who believes Caucasians are only
“potential humans” said of Obama, “This young man is the hope of the entire
world that America will change and be made better.” Obama immediately issued
the ritualistic rejection of the leader responsible for the “powerful
demonstration of an impulse and need for African-American men to come
together” to affirm whatever.

Did those who vetted Obama ask what other connections America’s
first African-American major-party presidential candidate has to the man who
said God would give Muslims the honor of destroying America?

On the other hand, Tony Rezko -- Obama's master fundraiser -- is
just an old-fashioned crook.

On June 4, a federal grand jury found Rezko guilty on 16 counts of
influence peddling. The Syrian-born Rezko built low-income housing in
Chicago (one step below selling junk bonds in the ‘80s).

He was also a longtime friend and fundraiser for Obama. In “Obama
Nation,” author Jerome Crosi described Rezko as a “Chicago slumlord,” who
“helped to bankroll Obama’s five election runs -- In Obama’s successful
1996, 1998 and 2002 campaigns for the Illinois state senate, in 2000 in his
unsuccessful run for the U.S. House, and in 2004 for his successful U.S.
Senate campaign.”

Obama told the Chicago Sun Times that their association went back
to his Harvard days, when the slippery Syrian offered the future harbinger
of hope a job in his business.

The relationship was far from one-sided. As a state senator, Obama
wrote letters to state and municipal officials helping Rezko to secure $14
million to build apartments for senior citizens. The arrangement included
$855,000 in development fees for Rezko and his partners -- among them
Allison Davis, Obama’s former boss at a Chicago law firm, who left for more
gainful employment with Rezko.

While authors like Corsi and David Freddoso (“The Case Against Barack
Obama”), have examined the Obama/Rezko connection, the candidate’s media
pimps could care less.

So, who vetted Barack Obama? The choices are: A. Inspector
Clouseau B. Forest Gump C. Maxwell Smart or D. Mrs. Emily Litella, Gilda
Radner’s clueless character on “Saturday Night Live.”

With enough dirt in Obama’s background to choke several
landfills, the Democrats and their media auxiliary wonder if McCain’s
campaign knew about the DWI arrest of Palin’s husband, 22 years ago.

Let’s hear it for selective vetting – a microscope for one
candidate and a blindfold for the other.
