Remember that episode of Star Trek (original series) where Captain Kirk, Scotty, Dr. McCoy, and Lt. The Federation was an evil "Terran Empire." Star Fleet officers moved up not by merit, but by assassinating their superiors. And mirror-universe Spock wore a cool goatee <http://boingboing.net/2008/09/08/tshirt-know-your-spo.html> [2]. Well, sometimes I feel like I've just woken up in a political parallel universe. Otherwise, how else can we explain a world where: Fidel Castro has admitted that Communism <http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2010/09/fidel-cuban-model- doesnt-even-work-for-us-anymore/62602/> has failed in Cuba [3]? And Cuba is adopting <http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/09/24/business/global/AP-CB-Cuba-Econo my.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1285437704-r6AhP5OHnb9YaCILWnHobA> capitalist reforms [4]? The Europeans are lecturing us about the need <http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.a910dcb6b4dfcd94d6b8c5e432a9465 f.571&show_article=1> to reduce government spending [5]? France is chiding us for being too <http://online.wsj.com/article/NA_WSJ_PUB:SB10001424052748704471504574441402 775482322.html> soft on Iran [6]?
