Even Phil Jones, a climatologist at the University of East Anglia and a prominent global warming alarmist, admitted this fact <http://cfact.us1.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=87b74a936c723115dfa298cf3&i d=deedbee4ca&e=60f2c96808> in the wake of Climategate. A year after Climategate, however, the IPCC's Pachauri still refuses to face reality and clings to the deeply flawed 4th Assessment Report, which has been completely discredited over the past year after it was revealed that many of its supposedly "peer-reviewed sources" were actually based on activist reports and interviews with hikers. "This interview revealed that the IPCC chair is ignorant of some very basic facts about global warming," said CFACT's Executive Director, Craig Rucker. "This is particularly striking in light of all the criticism being poured on the IPCC by scientists and independent review panels for its sloppy handling of key data and vital information." Most tellingly, while Pachauri agreed that global carbon dioxide emissions have been increasing for the last 15 years, he was at a loss to say how much global temperatures had increased during that same time. That seems like a pretty basic piece of information for the head of the UN's climate panel to know, but Pahauri has revealed his ignorance once again. And Japan's pronouncements are good for anything they choose to put voice to. Old Kyoto was dead as Jacob Marley, which is to say, as dead as a door-nail. What the Dickens? With Japan formally jumping ship, it does indeed appear the Kyoto Protocol is well and truly dead. Good riddance. And yet, sadly, the global warming scare lives on and the danger of Cancun remains. There is present danger as well. The buzz in the conference halls is that the Obama administration is doing some back room maneuvering to reach a global warming deal with China. China would drop objections to verification of its carbon emissions (can you trust such a verification scheme?). In exchange the U.S. would send billions to China to pay for clean energy technologies and agree to use the EPA and other regulatory agencies to force Americans into carbon restrictions - neatly bypassing the constitutional requirement to send a treaty to the Senate.
