Background: On Thursday, February 10, 2011, at a Worldwide Threat Assessment
Intelligence Committee Hearing, DNI Director James Clapper claimed that the
Muslim Brotherhood is a "

rotherhood_largely_secular.html> largely secular" organization. Readers
should note that this is the same James Clapper who - when
<http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/blog/id.6606/blog_detail.asp>
questioned by Diane Sawyer of ABC - had
<http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.8237/pub_detail.asp>
no clue that there had been

numerous terrorist arrests in Britain on that same morning. He seems equally
"in the dark" about the real nature of the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Either the Administration doesn't know who the Muslim Brotherhood is, which
shows incompetence, or they are apologizing for them, which is inappropriate
for those in charge of protecting the American people. Let's be clear - the
Muslim Brotherhood is NOT secular.

The Muslim Brotherhood's  <http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=22687>
English language websitehighlights their bylaws, which state: 'The Muslim
Brotherhood, is an international Muslim Body, which seeks to establish
Allah's law in the land by achieving the spiritual goals of Islam.'. Its
founding motto was: 'Allah is our objective; the Koran is our law; the
Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is
the highest of our aspirations'. Today, the Muslim Brotherhood uses the
slogan 'Islam is the answer'. If its own words don't prove that it is not a
"secular organization", I don't know what does.

The Administration is playing with fire here. Did the Administration prep
DNI Director Clapper on how to message on the Muslim Brotherhood, watering
down the stated goals and ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, so they could
create space to engage the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? Looks like it to
me".

 - US Representative Sue Myrick (North Carolina's Ninth District), in a
statement issued yesterday.
