Obama is selling the US on the value of the UN the Brooklyn Bridge is next

. February 12th, 2011 6:01 pm ET

.

. President Barack Hussein Obama is conning the American electorate
into believing that the UN is a great deal for America. Factually its
failures outnumber its success when it comes to preventing wars or providing
peacekeeping missions.

Before the reader thinks about buying what this administration is selling
it's time to examine the mission and stated role of the UN Department of
Peace Keeping Operations <http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/about/dpko/>
(DEPKO), which is to maintain international peace and security. Have they?
You decide!

Mr. Obama sent Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations
<http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/49319.html> , to argue in a major
address yesterday evening that America should "strengthen," not "starve" the
world body.

Her address was the first in a series of speeches, to continue this spring,
making the case to the American people for why the U.N. matters to national
security, and detailing how it is being improved. The ambassador will be
speaking to the World Affairs Council of Oregon in Portland.

"The U.N. provides a real return on our tax dollars by bringing 192
countries together to share the cost of providing stability, vital aid and
hope in the world's most broken places," Rice said in prepared remarks. (LOL
Then it must be the only government program?)

"Because of the U.N., the world doesn't look to America to solve every
problem alone. We're far better off working to strengthen the U.N. than
trying to starve it and then having to choose between filling the void
ourselves, and leaving real threats untended." (Facts presented below do
not substanciate the smoke being blown in Rice's presentation. The US is
always required to do the heavy lifting for this corrupt organization.)

President Obama and ambassador Rice are absolutely wrong. For additional
background on why it is time to dismantle this organization the same way of
the failed League of Nations

Failures of UN Keeping Operations:

Iraq: The problem with this system was that it was run by the U.N. in
cooperation with Saddam, a man as cunning as he is brutal. Saddam's
instinctive ability to spot weakness served him well against the U.N. Time
and again, Saddam absorbed the initial blows, the sanctions and the weapons
inspections, and then turned them to his advantage. The U.N. could not give
in, or accept the bribes, fast enough.

It's not just the third world that votes against US interest less we forget
<http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2004/04/investigate-the-united-nat
ions-oil-for-food-fraud> France, Russia and China leading the way to kill UN
efforts and the numeous sanctions completely ignored by Saddaham Hussein
during the oil for food scandal.

 <http://www.un.org/Depts/DPKO/Missions/unosomi.htm> Somalia/ Mogadishu: The
United Nations Operation in Somalia (UNOSOM I) was set up to facilitate
humanitarian aid to people trapped by civil war and famine. The mission
developed into a broad attempt to help stop the conflict and reconstitute
the basic institutions of a viable State. Somalia occupies a strategically
important geopolitical position at the Horn of Africa. The political culture
is influenced by competition among a number of clans and clan-based
factions.

Of course due to it's failure George W. Bush on December 4, 1992 initiated
Operation Restore Hope under which the U.S. would assume unified command.

This largely unknown UN failure was brought to the attention of the US and
movie going public that watched or read Black Hawk Down.
<http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/true-story-black-hawk-down/>

Since 1991, an estimated 350,000 to 1,000,000 Somalis had died
<http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/somalia.htm> because of
the conflict. This was largely due to failure of the UN to act in a timely
fashion. Forty-three US Military personnel
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_casualties_of_war>
gave their lives in another failed UN peacekeeping operation.

 <http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/vietnam2.htm> Vietnam: The
Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War in 1949 and Chinese intervention
against the United Nations in Korea made U.S.-China policy a captive of Cold
War politics. Those events also helped to transform American
anti-colonialism into support for the French protectorates in Indochina, and
later for their non-Communist successors. American political and military
leaders viewed the Vietnam War as the Chinese doctrine of revolutionary
warfare in action (using Chinese and Soviet arms, to boot).

ll-the-failure-of-u-n-peacekeeping> Korean War: The baby-blue banner was
used as a mere flag of convenience for an American-led alliance

Rwanda <http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/568566.stm> : The United Nations
itself has recently released reports documenting two of its worst stumbles.
According to these confessions, U.N. peacekeepers in Rwanda stood by as Hutu
slaughtered some 800,000 Tutsi.

Bosnia
<http://www.nytimes.com/1999/11/16/world/un-details-its-failure-to-stop-95-b
osnia-massacre.html> : The U.N. declared safe areas for Muslims but did
nothing to secure them, letting the Serbs slaughter thousands in Srebrenica.
The organization's meddling was worse than useless: its blue-helmeted troops
were used as hostages by the Serbs to deter a military response from the
West.

Governments have increasingly turned to the UN to deal with ethnic and
nationalist conflicts that have flared up in many regions since the end of
the cold war.

While 13 operations were established in the first 40 years of United Nations
peacekeeping, 36 new operations have been launched since 1988. At its peak
in 1993, the total deployment of United Nations military and civilian
personnel reached more than 80,000 from 77 countries.

Complex missions which involve simultaneous political, military and
humanitarian activities have built upon experience gained in "traditional"
UN peacekeeping, which typically involves primarily military tasks-such as
monitoring ceasefires, separating hostile forces and maintaining buffer
zones.

Troops serving in UN peacekeeping operations carry light weapons and are
allowed to use minimum force in self-defense, or if armed persons try to
stop them from carrying out their authorized tasks. Observers and civilian
police are usually unarmed.

UN peacekeepers cannot impose peace where there is no peace to keep
<http://www.un.org/Depts/DPKO/pk50_w.htm> . Ya think?

However, where the parties to a conflict are committed to solving their
differences peacefully, a UN peacekeeping operation can be a catalyst for
peace and help create a "breathing space"; a more stable and secure
environment in which lasting political solutions can be found and
implemented.

In closing the UN is made up of 3rd world tin pot dictators, tyrants, and
megalomaniacs whom are among the worlds leaders in Human Rights Violations
yet American's are greeted with cries that "The US Human Rights Record is
"deplorable", including the continuing failure to investigate alleged war
crimes committed by the Bush Administration.
ver-up_of_the_dasht-e-leili_massacre>

Should the US continue to take the insults form a moribund organization? Ask
the family of Journalist Daniel Pearl
<http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/6019110/what-daniel-pearls-decap
itation-means-to-barack-obama.thtml> , it seems that decapitating an
individual under their warped view of humanity some how doesn't deprive the
person of his human rights.

Perhaps the US must lead in forming a new alliance using the remarks of
George W. Bush when he addressed the joint session of Congress on September
20, 2001 when he said" Either you are with us or with the terrorists."

If the U.S. hopes to contain Islam's goal of world-wide subjugation to Allah
then it is past time that elected officials in a bipartisan fashion kick
this anachronism to the curb.

Why should the taxpayer support this corrupt organization when members
states vote against United States interests
<http://nationalreformsociety.blogspot.com/2010/11/its-time-for-us-to-leave-
un-and-remove.html> 70-80% of the time? The timing is perfect for a
paradigm shift. Get the UN out of the US and the US out of the UN,

That's my story and I'm sticking to it, I'm J.C.
