Maybe the thinking is that Hamas-linked CAIR's name is too tarnished - banned by the FBI (at least on paper) - so the next biggest voting bloc is through the ISNA. Either way, ISNA has a long and unsavory history. The State Department however, doubled down with another unsavory Muslim group - MPAC. Don't let the suits and the soft-spoken taqiyya fool you. It's not only easy to oppose bin Laden now that he is supposedly part of the Arabian Sea, it's incredibly convenient for these groups and the State Department. Thank you. via Death of Usama bin Ladin and the Reaction of the Muslim-American Community <http://fpc.state.gov/162415.htm> . Background on ISNA from Discover the Networks here <http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6178> , and below from the Investigative Project on Terrorism, The Islamic Society of North America <http://www.investigativeproject.org/profile/178> : ISNA has a troubling history, however, and its leadership ranks beyond Mattson include people who date back to the group's foundation by Muslim Brotherhood <http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/135.pdf> members. The organization grew out of the Muslim Students Association <http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/misc/84.pdf> (MSA), which also was founded by Brotherhood members. The Brotherhood is an 80-year-old Egyptian movement that seeks to spread Shariah, or Islamic law, far and wide. Federal prosecutors included ISNA on a list of unindicted co-conspirators <http://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/case_docs/423.pdf#page=8> in the Hamas-financing prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF). ISNA is listed among "individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood." The trial ended with guilty <http://www.investigativeproject.org/865/hlf-officials-convicted-on-all-coun ts> verdicts on 108 counts in November 2008. Its conferences have featured rhetoric in support of terrorist groups and other radicalism. This continued at the 2009 convention, where panelists expressed <http://www.investigativeproject.org/1085/mainstream-islamist-convention-fea tures-hate> extreme anti-Semitism and support for the terrorist group Hizballah.
