Operations are reported in the following provinces: Kunar, Paktiya and Zabul. The number of insurgents in Kunar were permanently reduced in numbers today. RPG's, propellant, hundreds of bullets and weapon making materials were located today in Paktiya where an operation is still ongoing. More information will come on that operation later. Zabul was not a good place to be for foreign fighters and Taliban leaders, they won't be around to bother the locals anymore! No reports of damage to property and no injuries to civilians have been reported in the area. Paktiya Province Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces detained more than 10 suspected insurgents while searching for a Taliban senior leader during a security operation in Yahya Khel district, Paktika province, today. The individuals were taken to an ISAF forward operating base for processing. The operation is still ongoing. No civilian casualties or collateral damage were reported during this operation. Also... In Ahmadabad district, Paktiya province, today, Afghan and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache consisting of nine 82 mm recoilless rifle rounds, 10 rocket-propelled grenade rounds and four bags of propellant. The weapons and explosive materials were destroyed by security forces. Also... In Zurmat district, yesterday, coalition forces discovered 923 7.62 mm rounds. Tailor the way you get your War in Afghanistan News <http://waronterrornews.typepad.com/home/2009/09/ways-to-get-your-war-on-ter ror-news.html> Zabul Province A combined Afghan and coalition security force was engaged by multiple foreign fighters, resulting in numerous killed and two detained during a security operation in Qalat district, Zabul province yesterday. The combined security force conducted the security operation in order to capture a Taliban facilitator in the district. The facilitator coordinates movement of weapons, improvised explosive devices, and IED materials to other insurgents in the district. After extensive intelligence gathering, the security force targeted the facilitator's suspected compound in the district. While conducting the search, the force was engaged by multiple groups of insurgents. The force responded to enemy fire, killing numerous insurgents. Two additional insurgents were detained after admitting involvement with the others. Questioning of the two detainees and others on the target led to the discovery that the force had interrupted a Taliban operational meeting. The force completed the search by safely destroying multiple weapons including a PKM machine gun, a grenade, and multiple chest racks that were found during the operation. In addition to the weapons, the force found passports from several different countries indicating the presence of multiple foreign fighters. Throughout the entire operation, the force was careful to ensure the safety of all women and children.
