Friday, 13 May 2011 'Islamic Camels' Protest Geert Wilders Williamson County News Conference by Jerry Gordon http://www.newenglishreview.org/images/clear.gif Geert Wilders at Williamson County GOP News Conference in Franklin, Tennessee As Rebecca Bynum had <http://newenglishreview.org/blog_display.cfm/blog_id/34655> posted, I had been up in Nashville for an encounter with the Geert Wilders entourage and attend some of the events sponsored by the Tennessee Freedom Coalition (TFC). One of those events was in Franklin, Tennessee -a new conference with local media and meet and greet Wilders for a photo op - at the Williamson County GOP Headquarters arranged by stalwarts of the TFC Andy Miller, Jr. and Lou Ann Zelenik. The local GOP had graciouisly arranged a courtesy terrific barbecue lunch with some complementary iced tea- the usual Southern choice, either sweetened and unsweetened. Across the street was a clutch of protesters. On our side of the street in downtown Franklin, Tenessee were several colleagues, a queue of TFC supporters wanting to visit with Wilders inside, an assortment of local Nashville TV news interviewers and camermen. So, I suggested that we might do the decent thing, go across to the protesters and offer them a libration to, as it were, cool off in the oppressive heat . One of those who accompanied me was Baron Bodissey of the Gatesof Vienna blog. Some of protesters accepted our offers of ice teas, some did not. The woman I approached asked me where I came from. I told her from across the way at the Wilders event. She asked what was in the styrfoam cups. I told her ice cubes and unsweetened iced tea. She harrumphed and said." No thanks, I can manage. After all we are Islamic Camels." I thought to myself that must be a new sobriquet for being a dhimmi? The Baron loitered and struck up a dialogue with several of the protesters to tease out of them what brought them out to protest which is their right under our First Amendment. When the Baron came back, he brought with him a brochure from a gentleman whom he had spoken with. The Baron characterized the person as being a "truther' thsoe who like leftists and Muslim extremists had contrived bizarre theories about what happened on 9/11. So between the Islamic Camels remark and the truther brochure a picture framed a picture as who were part of the small contingent who protested Wilders meet and greet event in Franklin and some who declined to accept our offer of iced tea and 'cool off'.'
