Officials say a third person was shot and wounded while trying to prevent the attack late Thursday in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi. Police say the two kidnapped men worked for a construction company. They say no ransom demand has been received for their release. Scores of kidnappings have been carried out in Nigeria's oil-rich southern Niger Delta region but such attacks are relatively rare in the north. Several foreigners have been kidnapped in Nigeria's northern neighbor Niger in recent years. Nigeria's Kebbi state borders Niger and Benin.
